Canton Family Wins $1,529 Toward College Tuition in Michigan Education Trust Sweepstakes
When they were in college, Matt Morawski and Sarah Mayberry Morawski were beneficialies of Michigan Education Trust contract that paid for their tuition.
Today, they’re still benefiting from MET, the 529 prepaid college tuition program administered by the Michigan Department of Treasury. The Canton couple won the grand prize of $1,529 worth of prepaid tuition in Thursday’s MET 529 Awareness Week Sweepstakes drawing, which drew nearly 1,000 entries statewide.
It’s money that Matt says is much appreciated as they continue to build college savings for their three children: Addy, 7, William, 5, and Jack, 1.More
MOISHA Searching for Workplace Safety Representatives/Officers – 3 Positions in Oakland & Wayne Counties
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) has opened three job postings for Workplace Safety Representatives (WSR). The positions are in Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph Counties; Oakland County; and Wayne County respectively. A WSR (Safety Officer) inspects workplaces for compliance with occupational safety regulations. These are permanent, full-time positions. Candidates seeking a career in Michigan civil service are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any major. As an alternative to a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have an educational level typically acquired through completion of high school, AND 1) One year of responsibility for workplace safety in a general industry environment, or, 2) One year of experience investigating/inspecting industrial plants for compliance with occupational safety standards. It is helpful if the candidate has spent several years operating and/or repairing machines or equipment in an industrial setting.More
