Detroit Home Mortgage
Mayor Duggan along with Governor Snyder, and local bank representatives announced the Detroit Home Mortgage program on Thursday at a home on Detroit’s westside. The Detroit Home Mortgage program allows banks to lend qualified homebuyers the full amount needed to purchase a renovated home, or to buy and rehabilitate homes anywhere in the city. Previously, federal lending guidelines did not clearly allow banks to loan borrowers enough money to cover necessary repairs because the loan amount was limited to the low, appraised value of a house. This mortgage program was designed to help solve Detroit’s appraisal gap problem.
Why Partnerships are Critical to Federal R&D Projects
In energy and transportation, federal research and development grant programs represent attractive opportunities to fund the advancement of a company’s technology readiness level and development of its IP portfolio. The Department of Energy plays a critical role in the development of next-generation energy technologies and is a significant economic development driver. Therefore in my opinion, every technology-intensive company in the energy or transportation space ought to continually assess different DOE, DOD, NSF, etc. federal R&D grant opportunities as ways to build its business and gain competitive advantage.More

The Royal Oak Community Coalition in partnership with Royal Oak Schools and the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities presents a one day opportunity to explore complementary and integrative practices that maintain and sustain optimal health and empower people when challenging a health related condition.
The evolution of medicine is moving toward a whole person approach designed to treat the person, not just the disease. The goal is to treat the mind, body and spirit all at the same time.
In 1993, integrative medicine got a boost of greater public awareness after a landmark study confirmed one in three Americans had used a complementary therapy. Physicians and academic research finally have the science to understand these connections and no longer consider complementary approaches fringe.
The appeal of integrative modalities is treating the whole person by blending both conventional and holistic approaches that will improve the management of illness at all levels. The aim is to take into account not only the physical symptoms but also psychological, social and spiritual aspects of health and illness.
