The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) is proud to announce the launch of its Water Residential Assistance Program (WRAP), the first sustainable assistance program focused solely on residential water services in the state of Michigan. Beginning Tuesday, March 1 residents in the GLWA service area will be able to begin the enrollment process. The Ally Detroit Center at 500 Woodward Avenue recently began a transition of its outdated lighting infrastructure to an energy efficient LED system. Given recent advances in lighting technology, LEDs are now viable for all lighting applications and offer business, non-profit, and government facilities as a novel means to impact their bottom lines. With the ability to utilize LED technology for general illumination needs, facilities now have the opportunity to reduce their lighting energy consumption by upwards of 75%, which can mean tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in electricity savings. Along with those energy savings, LEDs also offer maintenance savings through their greatly extended lifespans. Without the need to constantly replace burnt out lamps, LEDs reduce the need for both material costs as well as the labor required to install new lamps. More
