West Bloomfield, MI – The first official road cleanup event of Haggerty Road in West
Bloomfield Township is being organized on Earth Day by the Township Supervisor Michele Economou Ureste.
As stated by Economou Ureste, “When I received a resident email about debris on Haggerty Road, I knew it was at the same location, across from Meijer’s, that residents informally organized a road cleanup event a couple of years ago. I committed to organizing an event which I expect will continue to be held every Earth Day.”
Public support is needed for a successful Earth Day cleanup event on April 22, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The public will assemble at the rear of the Meijer parking lot located at 1703 Haggerty Road.
Resident Debbie Binder supports the initiative, “I plan to participate because of the large amount of debris from area businesses that ends up in the wetlands.” Students can receive community service hours from the Township Supervisor by participating in this event.
The Road Commission for Oakland County has provided safety vests and refuse bags for the cleanup event. It is recommended that participants bring a pair of garden gloves and wear rain boots.
Earn community service hours, or simply attend to do your part in keeping the community clean!
Please RSVP your participation with Supervisor Michele Economou Ureste at 248-409-1581 or meu@wbtownship.org.
