Hannan Lis was re-elected for his third term as President of The Michigan Israel Business Bridge (MIBB) at the organization’s Annual Meeting on early September.
Originally from Haifa, Israel, Hannan Lis, is principal, COO and board member of The WW Group, Inc. (Weight Watchers’ largest franchise group), and founder and CEO of Lis Ventures LLC, a venture fund investing in emerging technologies and companies. He is a past President of the Jewish Community Centers of Metropolitan Detroit, a past National Board member of the American Jewish Committee, past Midwest President and National Vice President of JNF, founder of the Land of Promise Foundation, and a member of the Detroit Federation Board of Governors. Lis is a Co-President of MOPAC, a Democratic political action committee and a member of AIPAC National Council. Currently, Lis serves as President of American Technion Society and is also a member of ATS National Board of Governors. Lis is also a board member of the Detroit Public Television. Lis is one of the founders of MIBB.
While addressing the membership at the recent MIBB annual meeting, Lis spoke of the significance in traveling, over a year on a trade mission, with Governor Snyder. The Trade Mission resulted in more connections being made between Michigan and Israel in the auto industry, technology and Cyber Security. “In the past two years of our MIBB administration, we went from dreaming and creating a vision to reality. With the support of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Government of Israel Ministry of Economy, MIBB has seen growth in unprecedented speed,” stated Lis. “One of the best outcomes of the trip is the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding between Israel and The State of Michigan. We are poised to announce the first RFP for companies looking to work together.”
This fall, MIBB will be leading another Trade Mission to Israel. Each participant will have pre-arranged meetings to address business objectives and industry specific targets; plus unique opportunities to network and socialize with Israeli innovators and thinkers.
