The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and representatives from faith-based and community organizations statewide that play a vital role in foster care placements and adoptions in Michigan. Lt. Gov. Brian Calley will provide remarks on behalf of the administration of Gov. Rick Snyder. Other speakers will include the Rev. Kyle Ray of Kentwood Community Church in Kent County, chairman of the Faith-Based Initiative on Foster Care and Adoption Advisory Council.
WHAT: The 2015 Faith-Based Summit on Foster Care and Adoption. This annual event promotes collaboration involving MDHHS and faith-based and community organizations to find loving homes for Michigan children in foster care. The state needs help from faith-based and community organizations to recruit foster and adoptive parents. At any given time, 3,000 of the 13,000 children in foster care are available for adoption.
WHEN: Tuesday, May 19, 8:45 a.m.-3 p.m. Ray will deliver an introduction at 8:45 a.m. and Calley speaks at approximately 11:30 a.m.
