Your furry four-legged friends are coming to play in Dearborn, and that’s good news for homeless animals throughout our community! The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) will hold its 24th annual Bow Wow Brunch, presented by Compuware Corporation, on Sunday, April 28 at the Dearborn Inn.
A limited number of tickets are now available for the event, which will include live and silent auctions featuring more than 100 items, a champagne reception, local celebrities and best of all, adoptable animals!
“The Michigan Humane Society provides more than 100,000 animals with care each year, and we can only do what we do with the support of this wonderful community,” said Cal Morgan, President and CEO of the Michigan Humane Society. “The Bow Wow Brunch is a great way for us to celebrate the work that’s being done to help animals here in metro Detroit. We hope to see old friends and new faces this year as we work toward a bright future for all our pets.”
The Dearborn Inn is located at 20301 Oakwood Blvd. The 2013 Bow Wow Brunch will start at 11:30 a.m. The master of ceremonies will be Eli Zaret, the former voice of the Detroit Pistons. The event will feature a champagne reception followed by an elegant brunch with menu options that include chicken, vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Live auction items include a Ceremonial First Pitch Package at a Detroit Tigers game, or the opportunity to watch a game from the luxurious General Motors suite. Other items up for bid include a chance to enjoy Breakfast with the Giraffes at the Detroit Zoo, a ride-along with Detroit’s famed “Animal Cops,” and one of the most popular items – the opportunity to have your pet featured on the cover of the 2014 MHS Calendar. The silent auction will feature more than 100 unique items up for bid.
The event will also feature local celebrities and prominent community members who have volunteered to be “in the doghouse,” and will be raising money to get bailed out – and help homeless animals in need. Each doghouse volunteer will attempt to raise $5,000 to get out of the doghouse, and will be representing a critical MHS program like adoption services, cruelty investigation, low-cost spay/neuter and more. The participant who raises the most funds will be named the “Top Dog” at the 2013 Bow Wow Brunch.
The 2013 Bow Wow Brunch is presented by Compuware Corporation, and made possible by Gold sponsors POLK and Bronze Sponsors High Five Foundation, Miller Canfield Paddock and Stone, Clark Hill, Taubman and the Stanley and Judith Frankel Family Foundation. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Terri Lessnau at (248) 283-1000, ext. 108.
Tickets to the Bow Wow Brunch are available now. A limited number of individual tickets and full tables of 10 still remain. To reserve your tickets, call 1-866-MHUMANE (648-6263), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
