DTE Energy’s Monroe Power Plant will receive an award for an outstanding safety and health record from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), on Friday, August 19, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., 3500 E. Front St., Monroe.
The MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division recognizes the safety and health achievements of Michigan employers and employees through CET Awards, which are based on excellent safety and health performance. The CET Bronze Award recognizes leadership and commitment to workplace safety and health resulting in significant improvement of its MIOSHA record. The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
CET Division Supervisor Sherry Scott will present the award to Brian Rice, Plant Manager, and Todd Burger, Site Union Safety Representative during the plant’s Safety Fair luncheon. Rice and Burger are the Safety Committee Co-chairs and will accept the award on behalf of all employees. Some employees are represented by the Utility Workers of America AFL-CIO. (need local number)
